Advent

As regular readers of this blog and friends will know, I don't do Christmas. I'm a bit ba humbug. I better explain because as a Christian and someone who is going through enquiry for Ministry of Word and Sacrament I think I better.

I don't do endless shopping, Christmas tree and all the trimmings, Santa and all the chessy songs. I loathe all this. As a youth worker though I need to try and use this to get across the real reason that I love this advent season. So this year in school services I am using the Christmas story and telling it in Chocolate and sweets. Will see how it goes.

What else has been happening in my world. Well schools are going great. The pastoral work is bringing some really challenging and encouraging conversations. The two prayer rooms will open really soon maybe even this week if time permits. I am doing lots of chaplaincy work in all the four schools, it's amazing that all these young people in the midst of all their problems, always come and ask me about what I think of God. We have been having some fruitful conversations of late.

Sunday saw me meet up with most of the Romania 2011 mission trip team. Great to catch up watch videos and look at the 2000+ pictures( no not an exaggeration ). It has reminded me again of why I go out there. When I look at the pictures and remember the situations these people find themselves in, there by the grace of God I think, It could be me if I lived elsewhere. So plans are in the early stages of going back out next year.

So busy, busy. The Christmas madness at schools is starting. With us going to the Imax on Wednesday to see Santa v the snowman.  Should be good although personally the visit to the science centre before hand appeals more to me!!

So until next time.
